TOPIC: THE POISON OF HATE

SCRIPTURE: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. Hebrews 12:15

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God frustrates the expectations of the hater and opens doors for the hated.

One of the potent forces on earth is the force of love. The impact of love on the life of a person or society cannot be overemphasized. Love is the foundation for godly character while hate is the foundation for ungodly character.

Walking in love is walking with God because God is love and walking with God is ending with God. On the contrary, walking in hate is walking with Satan, and walking with Satan is ending with Satan – in hellfire.

Chapters 3 and 4 of Genesis reveal that attacks on love were the foundation for the two earliest sins of mankind – the sin of Adam and Eve and the sin of Cain.

We live in a world that is filled with a plague of lovelessness. It is what I call the hate revolution. We see people celebrating the misfortunes of others. Amazingly, some people align with other perceived haters of their victims. That is, if they know that someone hates the person they hate, then they become friends with such a person; they form an alignment to solidify their hatred for the person.

Now, it is crucial to know that it is toxic to hate. It is destructive to hate. So, today, we shall be looking at the toxicity or destructiveness of hate to the hater.

The frustration and disappointment of expectations. The hater will always be frustrated and disappointed. Scripture makes it clear that God frustrates the expectations of the hater and opens doors for the hated especially if he is a covenant person. Genesis 29:31 says, And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren. That is, if you want my doors to open, hate me. If you want me to see more breakthroughs in life, hate me.
The condition of separation from God. Hatred separates people from God both in time and in eternity. Genesis 3:1-24 confirms this. When Satan introduced hatred/bitterness against God in the heart of Adam and Eve, they were separated from God.
Separation from the presence of God was the outcome of that seed of hatred. Hatred pushes people away from the presence of God. Bitterness disconnects people from God. No hater can make heaven (1John 3:15).

Beloved, this is my counsel: guard your heart against hate and bitterness.

Remember this: God frustrates the expectations of the hater and opens doors for the hated.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Consciously fight and eject every seed of hate or bitterness the devil or man may want to plant in your heart.
2. Forgive those who offend you.
3. Ask God for help whenever you find it difficult to forgive.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to forgive those who offend me. I reject the spirit of hate. I refuse to habour hate or bitterness in my heart, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
